Vernon was excited about going to view the bar with Liz, but she told Deirdre she couldn't summon up the same enthusiasm for the idea. Once there, Vernon saw the potential but it became obvious Liz didn't feel the same way. However, he was amazed when she said their marriage was over. Meanwhile, Michelle offered Becky a job as new barmaid, still unaware she slept with Steve. Sally belittled Claire when she found her in the yard sorting through a pile of club and concert programmes, but Mrs Peacock had the last laugh when they turned out to be worth £7,000. Tony pressed on with his plans to buy The Kabin so he could expand Underworld. Norris may not have been keen but Rita was obviously tempted. Tony also had a go at Sean when he spotted him skiving and threatened to sack him if he did it again.
NEIGHBOURS
Tuesday 01/07/08
While Libby admitted she was secretly pleased she'd be having Dan all to herself once Sam left, the newcomer decided to stay in Erinsborough after all. She organised a surprise baby shower party for Rosie, who had her first scan, but there was tragedy around the corner. There was no heartbeat, leaving the couple devastated. Ty chatted with Zeke about the new Ramsay Street band, but it was clear there was a spark between him and Rachel. However, he put his foot in it by criticising Angus, although he tried his best to apologise. Lou finally handed over the keys to the General Store, but Frazer and Marco were horrified when their hopes of landing a booze licence were dashed by Steph. Oliver also had a go, but he was more concerned about getting back at Marco than anything else. Later, he stirred things up by handing Steph some facts and figures, and asked her to lean on her council mates to put a stop to Marco and Frazer's plans.
HOME AND AWAY
Tuesday 01/07/08
As if the fall-out from Jack and Martha's party wasn't enough drama, Irene went on a late-night dash to the beach after getting a series of mysterious phone calls. There, she picked up a cute-as-a-button toddler called Oliver and had a hug with a strangerÂ… Returning to her house, she got Rachel and Jack to check the tot out, but claimed innocence as to where he came from. The medic then whisked the poorly Oliver to the hospital, while Irene fussed and fretted. Funnily enough, neither Jack nor Rachel twigged why she was so interested. During another phone call, she revealed the cops were planning to contact the media to find the toddler's parents. Elsewhere, Jack had to tell Geoff that Melody's mum had followed through with her threat to take out a restraining order against him, and a subdued Jazz apologised to Tony and Miles, before bidding a fond farewell to Summer Bay.
HOLLYOAKS
Tuesday 01/07/08
After overhearing Tony voice his reservations about the surrogacy to Mandy, Tina stormed off and was scared stiff as Fletch tried to mug her. Niall, who was feeling sorry for himself while perched on the SU bar steps, came to her rescue and fought off her attacker. However, he berated his half-sister when she revealed that she was considering giving her unborn baby up for adoption. The news served as a painful reminder of his own miserable childhood, and he later appeared behind Tina and pushed her down a flight of steps. OB tried to comfort Steph but was livid when she decided to move back into the Dog and refused to look after Tom. Elsewhere, Kris and Elliot were tired of eating yesterday's leftovers and offered new art student Leila their spare room when she revealed she was a dab hand in the kitchen. However, the pair soon realised she might not be the domestic goddess she had professed to be when she served burnt pizza for dinner.
EMMERDALE
Tuesday 01/07/08
After mulling things over, Ashley decided he would rather give Arthur back to the Dolands than loose Laurel. Douglas wasn't about to let this happen and, realising Laurel needed some tough love, put her in a situation where she had to look after Arthur alone for a short while. However, while she finally started bonding with her son, she soon panicked when he didn't wake quickly and hurriedly rushed him to hospital, dragging Mel along with her as she feared the worst. While everything turned out to be fine, a few words from the doctor finally pushed Laurel to acknowledge her parental responsibilities towards Arthur, and she realised she would be able to accept him given time. Unfortunately for Mel, Laurel revealed she had been unwilling to show love for Arthur because she had feared to hurt her and Greg, and she decided it would be for the best if they kept their distance. However, the Dolands went one stop further, and left the village for good.
EASTENDERS
Tuesday 01/07/08
Mickey was stunned when he discovered Rosie had written to Keith over a month ago to offer him a job at the hotel where she works, and decided that if his dad didn't want it, he'd take it. Clearly, you just can't get the staff in the Cotswolds as not only was the position still vacant, but they apparently agreed to take Mickey on the spot without so much as an interview. Keith decided to smarten himself up and go with him, and together they bid Walford a farewell so hastily, many viewers will have been left wondering why the producers didn't just kill them off in the fire. Over at the Vic, Shirley tried to boost the takings with a quiz night, which was won by the Slaters - although any family celebration was cut short when Sean strolled into the pub covered in blood. Max informed Tanya that Ruby Allen (remember her?) had agreed to sell him the house, and a mystery benefactor sent Bianca a widescreen TV.
