GPRS
Implementation of packet switching within GSM. GPRS brings Internet Protocol (IP) connectivity to the GSM network, and is sometimes referred to as 21/2G, in contrast to 3G, which is the third-generation standard for mobile cellular networks.

GPRS supports a data transfer rate of up to 115 kilobits per second (kbps), compared with the 9.6 kbps of standard GSM. Another advantage of GPRS is that is always ‘on’, rather than requiring that the user dial up to establish a connection in order to transmit or receive data.
